This book had a unique "Little mermaid" vibe to it. Being of course a whole different story Bout a girl whose heart is set on surfing and the sea she realizes in difderent encounters theres more to her life then shes being told. Theres of course love through the characters of this book therea also tough decisions and heartbreaking solutions. This book was a nice easy read and had me sad and happy all at once in the end. This book is a book to read being different but in a good way. This book was a mostly light read. It was well written, but it took me about halfway through for anything to get my interest. I nearly put it back down again after struggling with it for months due to the slow pace.The ending did not satisfy me at all. If anything, it was bittersweet and left me wanting. I thought this book would be mostly fluff, but it had some sincerely rough patches that made me feel bad for the main character. The biggest two? Lena having to leave her family in the sea AND having to abandon the merman she was in love with.I kept expecting the last few pages to soften the blow with at LEAST Nix becoming Riven for Lena, but I was sorely disappointed.Good read, but as I said, the ending did not satisfy me nearly enough, which is why I am giving it only three stars. That and the very slow pace in the first half of the book.
