About book Mate Set (2010)

I could swallow the 'hero' saving the heroine from a pack of rapist werewolves, but the premise of this whole story rubbed me the wrong way. If werewolf males go into mating heat and chase down and rape women, why the fuck aren't they on leashes? We're talking sentient creatures here who apparently have no problem abusing women with the tired old trope of 'they can't help it'.The fact that the heroine's uncle didn't tell her about IMPORTANT INFORMATION like mating heat, biting during sex, or anything that could have empowered her to make informed choices makes him either a sadistic asshole or someone too stupid to live. Since he's portrayed as neither of those things, I can only assume that this was a plot device to put the heroine in the situation where she 'had' to assuage the mating heat of the werewolf forced to mark her.The heroine spends the entire book telling the hero, "No" and he spends the entire book ignoring her. Not sexy and I don't care if she enjoyed most of their encounters. Rape victims have orgasms too; it doesn't make rape sexy or excuse it. I'm also not a fan of somehow making the heroine at fault for acting like a normal human being when faced with a lack of information, abuse, forcible confinement, some situations that may not be portrayed as rape in the story, but certainly look like rape to me, etc. etc. She runs away because the 'hero' shifts and TRASHES HER HOUSE. And somehow it's her fault that he is going crazy because of 'the mating heat'. I really did not like the premise or plot devices of this story. They were way too on the side of, "If she enjoyed it, it's okay." "He couldn't help himself." "It was her fault because she did blah-blah." I don't care if you're a werewolf; if you're sentient, you have the capability of understanding how rape and abuse affect people. Even the one character who had experienced abuse was remarkably lacklustre in her efforts to help the heroine deal with her situation. Not my cup of tea. Well it seems that my very favorite narrator is now using the pseudonym GC VanCloudts. I believe her original name is Therese Plummer and she can narrate a newspaper and make it sound like the most fascinating thing you've heard. Yes, she's that good. The story was just ok for me. It was very hot and heavy but I felt like the story was mostly about sex. The paranormal world wasn't developed and I kept wondering what our main couple had in common besides strong libidos. That said the story did spark my curiosity and I will be listening to other books in this series as long as they are narrated by this same amazing narrator.

Do You like book Mate Set (2010)?

(Happy sigh) I love it when LD writes a hero who isn't an unfeeling ass-hat.
