About book Marrying Daisy Bellamy - Pernikahan Daisy Bellamy (2011)
Every once in a while, you just have to read a good romance novel and this book fit the bill. I've not read any of Susan Wigg's other novels in The Lakeshore Chronicles series, so I was unfamiliar with the characters, however, that didn't matter in the least - this book stands well on its own. The main character, Daisy Bellamy, is a single mother who fell in love in her teens with Julian Gastineaux, a rebel from the other side of the country, who happened to be helping his brother at Daisy's family summer camp. Julian is a troubled teen with no direction and Daisy is a rebellious teen from a wealthy and privileged family. Seemingly, they have nothing in common, but they understand each other perfectly and form a strong bond. Daisy even gives advice to Julian about how he can go forward and attend college and make something of himself. When summer is done, they part ways, but continue to communicate through the years. Daisy makes some wrong choices her senior year in high school, culminating in an unplanned for pregnancy. Julian once again enters Daisy's life as he receives his officer commission in the air force and is about to embark on a secret military assignment. I won't tell more of the story so that I don't spoil it, but needless to say, Daisy and Julian's love affair takes lots of twists and turns on its way to a happy ending. Gave this book two stars only because most of the book doesn't have the two main characters together. I liked Daisy and Julian a lot, but the book is mostly spent with them a part, although there are flashbacks to when they are together. But he is held as a prisoner by a Columbia drug lord for two years during the books time frame, and she thinks he's dead so she marries someone else, and then that marriage fails - luckily before Julian comes back from the dead.
