About book Manifesting Mr. Right (2000)

This book was adorable and had SUCH a good message. Basically, manifest your dream life and you will make it happen. The story was at times predictable and at times also a little bit of a stretch, but I still flew through the book. It was enjoyable and funny and definitely worth the time spent reading it.Thumbs up to Caitlin McKenna for passing along this message and reminding all of us that thoughts become things. To be fair, I have to say that had I looked twice at the title, I probably wouldn't have bought the book. I was in a hurry, as I was about to get on an 8 hour flight and I needed something to read. The main heroine seemingly does a complete 180 from being a total pushover who lets other people control her life, to sticking up for herself and in the matter of just a few weeks finding her calling as - of all things - a motivational speaker. Her transition to this is neither believable nor something I ended up really rooting for.Apparently, just a day after calling off her wedding (at the altar no less), her main priority is to find a new guy to marry. So she makes a wishlist, and within hours unwittingly meets the guy who meets every single requirement on her wishlist. I won't reveal any more. The writing itself wasn't too bad, but the story and the characters fell completely flat for me. Unlike other reviewers, I think I minded the end more than the beginning, though I do have to agree that it drags on to a certain extent. The whole artist/motivational speaker thing was where the book really lost me. I did suspend belief enough to come to terms with the manifesting the guy thing, but the end was just too over the top for me.
