About book Manage Your Day-to-Day: Build Your Routine, Find Your Focus, And Sharpen Your Creative Mind (2013)

Hey, guess what? Success in life is simply a side effect of a particular set of behaviors.Enter "Manage Your Day-to-Day," a great little book put out by the good people at 99U (of Behance fame), aimed at giving you concrete ways to revamp your daily rituals and simple reasons for doing it. The format is filled with short, one-to-five-page essays on varying topics by some modern names in productivity (like Seth Godin, Dan Pink, and Todd Henry to name a few). Some examples of topics: the importance of having scheduled creative time to yourself, exercise and meditation's extensive cognitive benefits, how to avoid becoming a slave to technology and its demands, and intentionally building limitations into your projects to stoke creativity. It's not new information for anyone immersed in the subject, but the essays are varied enough that there are some good ideas here for just about everyone, and the artistic execution of the book puts it ahead of most related best-sellers you'll see on Amazon. "Manage Your Day-to-Day" can be read in an afternoon, but despite its brevity, it offers some legitimate thinking points for anyone who needs help getting on-track, or even for those just mining the depths for additional ways to improve their daily experience. The first section of this book, about cultivating a solid routine around your creative work, carries the whole thing. Circumvents any indulging in self-pitying (or exploration) re: why you aren't writing more. Boils it down, like any good capitalist micro-tome, to process.Would give it a full endorsement, but there are a sad amount of pages devoted to ignoring email. I suppose you could sub in any distraction, but really, who cares?
