About book Man You'll Marry, The: The First Man You Meet And The Man You'll Marry (2009)

This book was not bad, please don't take my 2-star rating as bad. Technically, 2 stars means "it's okay" according to GR. Since it was two stories and a short book, I'm sure these stories were not meant to be super deep and insightful. They did have some swoon-worthy moments and some super sweet moments. They also had a bunch of repetitiveness, which was surprising considering the length of the book. This is a perfect book to get you through a flight, laying on the beach, or if you commute by train. You don't have to pay tons of attention to what is going on in the stories (you won't get lost if you are distracted for a few moments) and you get to read about two women being swept up in love.On a side note, I kept picturing how this would play out as a Hallmark movie. Both stories would make perfect Hallmark movies. This is two stories in one book. The first, "The First Man You Meet" is the story of a wedding dress that Shelly Hansen's great aunt sent to her. According to the family history, the first man you meet after receiving the dress is the man you will marry. Shelly Hansen is not interested in getting married and very content in her career and her life. Even with her mother hounding her to marry and start a family. When she trips on an escalator and into the arms of Mark Brady, she chalks it up as only coincidence and not some magical dress. But its funny how they seem to keep running into each other. Is the dress really magical? The second story is of Shelly's best friend Jill Morrison. Shelly wants Jill to fall in love with Mr. Perfect as she did, so she sends the wedding dress to her while she is on a vacation in Hawaii. Jordan Wilcox, whom she meets on the airplane is not marriage material. Jordan is a work-aholic and brings back painful memories of her father who was the same. She doesn't want to relive that sort of life with any man. I found these two stories very well written and the characters strong. I was intrigued by the magical dress. These were stories that made you smiled and even made me cried. Debbie Macomber never lets me down with her books.
