About book Male Brain (Mengungkap Misteri Otak Laki-Laki) (2010)
A great look into the male brain and what makes it tick. Reading this book helped me gain a lot of insight into my own thinking and psychology. She goes over how the male brain works during various different stages of life as well as gender differences between male and female brains. A lot of the differences are due to the different hormones that men and women have. She explains why young boys act more boisterous than girls and get into more trouble. Basically, a little bit of danger and injury is instrumental to a boy's development, and parents should expect their male boys to get into trouble. The teenager phase is also quite fascinating, as the author goes over the immense surge of testosterone that hits teenage boys, and how that changes their behavior completely. At that age the male brain has quite low willpower since it's not developed fully, which explains why teenage boys act like complete idiots. During the teenage years, young men are looking to constantly prove themselves, often by doing dangerously stupid things. She then covers the young adult stage, where a man gains better control of his emotions and becomes more mature. She covers how men bond with women, which I found very interesting. Then she covers the "Dad" stage, which goes over how fathers bond with their children. Finally she covers Andropause, which is the stage at which testosterone levels fall of significantly as man gets older. While there have been some criticisms that a few of the studies referenced in the book aren't very well done, I agreed with many of the author's assertions and found that they made sense. It's revealing, interesting. It's scientific, but lucid and simple.A must-read for all women. You're luckier if you get to read it when you're still a girl. Here are the answers for all "why"s by ever-wondering women. "Why do you do that", "why don't you listen", "why don't you talk to me", "why this devil-may-care attitude", "why such aggressiveness", "why don't you feel anything", "why can't you resist yourself watching at an hourglass figure", "can't you think anything else other than ***", so on and so forth. (Blame his hormones)So, it's a justice for expression "Boys will be Boys!" (Blame Y chromosome)'The female brain' has set high parameters for the author. This particular book does not meet those parameters; but still an eye-opener.
