About book Making It Work (2014)

Ooh, I really loved this book, what an enjoyable read this turned out to be! Well written, sweet and with several moments of ‘almost’ between them, it teased my inner romantic mercilessly! These two belong together, and the timing and pacing felt just right! The sex was a tiny bit rushed at the end but still in tune with the rest of the story and I got a lovely HFN with the promise of more. I hope we get more of this couple and I’m happy to have discovered a new author! Even though office romances are quite the cliche, the author definitely made this one work. It is funny, warm, and Eric, the narrator, is too cute for his own good. Of course Beau, his boss, is an amazing guy as well, and the two of them together made me grin. Not to mention some of the secondary characters who also did their bit to make this story come alive.Eric is - well. I wasn't sure whether I should admire his principles or laugh about the determination with which he insisted on being Eric-the-personal-assistant-who-refuses-to-be-a-cliche. He is clearly in love, but denies it to the point where he asks a friend of his to go on the date with Beau when he has dinner with his parents. All the hints Beau had given pointed to the fact he wanted Eric there - and everyone could see it except the stubborn man himself.Beau is not just a "silver fox", he is also strong, determined, capable... the list goes on. Best of all is that he returns Eric's affections, but is just as principled in that he refuses to ask Eric, who is his subordinate, out on a date. If Fate hadn't reached out and gotten these two men together, I'm sure they'd still be insisting on keeping things professional. And the really scary thought is - they'd have succeeded! If you like men with principles they stick to even if it (almost) kills them, if you think you'd enjoy reading an office romance that isn't really an office romance, and if you're looking for a funny, sweet and very hot read, then you will probably like this free short story.
