About book Magic Flutes (1982)

It's a 3.5. I'm starting to notice that the majority of the men in her novels tend to fall in love in a most shallow manner and spend the whole book repenting of that love because they found someone who is better suited for them, but are too genteel to break their engagement of their own volition. It was still a good book. I like the setting and the time period a lot, but it reminded me a lot of A Countess Below Stairs in Austria instead of England. The Reluctant Heiress is about a princess who doesn't want to be. Set in 1920's Austria, her fortune is all but gone (not that she cares). She prefers to be a part of the arts and spends her days helping at a struggling Viennese opera company. Things change when Guy Farne, a self-made millionaire comes into the picture. I liked it, hence the 3 stars. It had quite a few words that I didn't know and phrases that were unfamiliar, but the storyline was fun (albeit predictable). The characters were well-written - I could picture them as real people and I wanted the story to continue when I was done reading it. I think that's the sign of a good book to me, if I care about the characters and want to know more about their lives. Good read!

Do You like book Magic Flutes (1982)?

Really subtle love story and deals with quite a few controversial issues. Very fulfilling.

Fun, clean, yet not stupid. What else can you ask for on flights and a layover?

Kind of a fun Jane-Ausitinish kind of book. Good summer time read.
