Utterly charming! Maeve's legendary advice to aspiring writers was to develop your own voice, and from reading this collection of her editorials for the Irish Times, it's clear that she took her own advice. Reading this was like meeting up with an old beloved friend. The essays themselves are very clever, observant, and funny. I had several laugh out loud moments. I finished the book with a true realization of the literary genius that the world lost when Ms. Binchy left us. this is a book that pulls you in. it starts a bit slow as you're not used to reading books that are really newspaper columns in disguise, but you quickly get the feel for them and look forward to the next one. Maeve's opinions come through loud and clear in some of the chapters, but are subtle in others. Her humor is apparent throughout the only problem with the book is in not knowing the background of some incident or the people she is talking about. altogether though, a very satisfying read if taken over several days.
