Parts of this book are pretty seriously hot. However, even for guilty pleasure smut reading, there are way too many issues with the story and editing to ignore. The most atrocious problem, to me, was the fact that this is clearly Twilight fanfic where the names were changed using a search and replace function, so every once in awhile the characters names are wrong! Whoever did the search and replace forgot alternate names like "Jake" (for Jared/Jacob), "Bells" and "Isabella" (for Katarina/Bella) and those names were never changed, talk about distracting!! I could go on about the things that bothered me with this story, but basically this same kind of carelessness is evident throughout and can be seen in every aspect of the book, from the horrific punctuation to the lazy, often incoherent, storyline. In some of Ms. Silver's newer writing these issues aren't nearly as glaring, so from here on out I'll avoid her older stuff and remember that in the age of self publishing and ebooks most writers earliest books are things that NEVER would have made it into print a decade ago. I wasn't impressed. The story started out so promising, then it just got confusing. One minute our heroine is working through some stuff, then suddenly she's a completely different person. I get that her relationship with Colt helps her change that, but the trauma she was suffering - you don't get over that after one conversation. I actually liked Kat better when she was still quiet and timid, not the brat she became. The change in character perspectives was also confusing. One minute it's Colt, then it's Kat, then it's Colt's mother (who is probably the most likable character in the book). No indication of the change, and it took me a little while to realise what was going on.Really disappointing because it started out so promising. Good story idea, but it seemed like it was rushed to get to steamy bits. It's a real shame too.
Do You like book Lyon's Crew (2000)?
I think I liked Colts pothead parents the best - They were hilarious.
