The story doesn't really begin until France then it takes off; the reader becomes immersed the French way of life. You will long to stay in Provence for the summer. An unexpected twist takes the story in a new direction aside from the predictable and expected romance. However the ending feels rushed and unsatisfactory. I would rather have loose ends to wonder about than the somewhat forced conclusion. As many others have stated, this book doesn't really start until page 100 or so, but when it does it is marvelous. I was looking for something light to read and this was perfect. While there is a lot of grief, the author does a good job with bringing in light-hearted moments and well-written characters. I loved the themes of letting go and living a little as well as the idea of this magical house in Provence. I really think this is a romantic book with a light heart. What a pleasure to read--now I want to travel!
Really really enjoyed it. Beautifully written but still very easy to read.

It was okay. Heavy on the death subject - got lighter toward the end.
