This is a perfect beach read. It was fast and easy paced story that worked within the scene Summer was a fun character to read about, the Donovan brothers (and Rachel their sister) had a story of their own however you do want to hit Nat over the head, I’m firmly in team Drew’s corner here. The side stories were sad and not just about a story in Malibu. This story has drawn me in completely so much so I’ve already got the second novel lined up on my Kindle. It’s more of a NA novel than a YA but I think it falls just between the two categories. I would defently need to state it’s a beach read nothing serious and if you just want a quick read. Although I only gave it three stars I would probably say more of a 3.5 dead even for me. This is the worst book I've read in a long time. The only reason I finished was to see if it really was as much of a copy cat as "The Summer I Turned Pretty" series by Jenny Han as it seemed. Oh, It is. I hope Jenny Han has pursued legal action, because this is beyond ridiculous. At least this author didn't even write it well. I think it was written for ages 15 and under. It is full of cliches and is so tacky and awkward. It's full of statements about this girl watching this guys muscles ripple. She is Constantly admiring his muscles. Also, there is no character development, and certainly no relationship development. The book basically jumps around from scene to scene of her making out with different boys (don't worry, they all have amazing muscles) with no thought (not even a thought!!) to tell her boyfriend that it's happening. Plus the boys are constantly saying ridiculous things that guys don't actually say. Drew says a lot of lines that sound really girly. Guys just don't talk that way. And Apparently Nat she has loved her whole life, but he is barely present in the book, just to randomly make out with her and proclaim his love for her. Ummm ok? It was a very frustrating book to read. If you are thinking of reading it, go read "The Summer I Turned Pretty" series by Jenny Han instead. Same story, not as cheesy, actual relationship development, and overall much better. And if you have already read that series, don't worry about wasting your time with this cheap imitation. Ouch. I don't usually write bad reviews, I usually like everything, I am easy to please! but it was so disgusting to read this total rip-off. One other thing I can't seem to quit musing over... I truly feel like this book was written for girls 15 and under, with how full of sap and cheesiness and cliches, however I looked at the next book and it says 17+ for sexual content.. I just can't wrap my head around that, but oh well.
