I'm not sure what to write for Love of a Rockstar because it wasn't what I was expecting at all. I sort of expect a certain amount of angst when rock stars are around and there wasn't in this book. Not that it is a bad thing because I enjoy books with no angst. But my biggest problems were:Luke leaving Marlene in the first place and not making more of an effort to stay in touch.Right away Marlene is introducing Luke to her daughter as her father when she doesn't believe he is going to stick around.Marlene forgiving Luke after only a few days seemed really rushed and stupid given his past actionsMarlene not ripping her friend a new one when she found out what she had done. All these things left me feeling a little let down. This story came so close to being my first ever DNF. How sad too since I really wanted to like this story. The premise seemed fantastic until I read the TSTL characters and the really stupid decisions and rationale they make out of their lives. Where to start with Marlene... she's strong for having taken on motherhood so well at such a young age and for having the guts to put her dreams on hold to provide a nurturing and loving life for her daughter. And yet... her kryptonite (as she puts it) just waltzes back into her life and instead of making him grovel hardcore for having left her the way he did she almost immediately forgives him and continuously rationalizes his attitudes and remarks thereby excusing his very immature (to say the least) behavior. For that, she lost major respect points. Which brings me to Luke... dude had a major ass-kicking coming or at least a major tongue-thrashing (and not the good kind) with a side of cold-shoulder. In the four years he was away, he really in no way proved that he grew the hell up. Props for being a self made man after a messed-up childhood, but I really thought he would come back with a vengeance to prove that he's the man his family always needed. He was supposed to make me believe he was on the way to redeeming himself, not throwing attitude to Marlene and calling her out as being selfish for going after something that could be a really positive change for both her and her daughter. And honestly don't even get me started on the best friend who had absolutely no right to step in and make a critical decision for Marlene at a critical moment in her life and decide not to say anything until Luke spills the beans. But then again Luke never had to agree to it and just proved to be even more totally unworthy.Rant over. I'm skimming the last 20% and only because I'm a glutton for punishment and have to know how this thing ends.UPDATE: Well I finally finished the story and all that did was leave me with disappointment over how the storyline could've been taken advantage of had it been better developed. For a reader who loves reading as much as I do, depth is key and without it a story is bound not to survive on my ereader and sadly this one too will soon be among the forgotten.
Do You like book Love Of A Rockstar (2014)?
3 STARS This was a simple second-chance-at-love story. A few editing issues, but enjoyable.
