This is an outstanding book, which I would highly recommend to anyone wrestling with how, as a follower of Jesus, to interact with the LGBT community. Marin's insights are profound, and as truly profound insights usually are, amazingly simple. Not that that makes them simple to live out. And while this book is enormously helpful for thinking about how to relate to those who are gay, it could just as well be applied to any polarized relationships. After Andrew's two best friends came out to him within a three-month timeframe, Andrew was confronted with the issue of homosexuality and the church head on. Compelled to reconcile his friends and his faith, Andrew and his wife relocated to the well-known gay neighborhood of Boystown in Chicago. From that experience comes this book, an attempt to elevate the conversation between Christianity and the GLBT community. As someone who already supports gay rights and belongs to a church that accepts GLBT members for who they are, I expected to know and understand most of what I read in this book. However, Andrew provides plenty of new insights to chew over, and presents many issues in a new light. I recommend this book to all Christians - whether you think you know where you stand on homosexuality and the church or not. This was a wonderful, insightful read.
