About book Lone Wolf And Cub, Omnibus Volume 1 (2013)
I walked into a manga/comic book store in Ann Arbor, Michigan to browse in-case I found a good read (ha-ha). There were several copies of a thick book on a table with little sticky notes on three of them, reading: BAD-ASS BOOK. It was one of those employee recommendations. I took the book in my hands and read the summary, as I was honestly curious from the little sticky notes - typical consumer. The summary read, "framed as a traitor" ... "chooses the path of the master-less samurai" ... "The Lone Wolf and his Cub." Flipping through the pages of manga briefly, my eyes saw beautiful pages of black and white that told a story as vivid as color; this book gave me a warm feeling right from the start. Not knowing much else, I went to the counter and decided I should treat myself to a manga, and I gladly handed over $20 to the clerk. Before he even took my money, his eyes opened wide, "That book is a game-changer. Hands-down. Great choice, man."And so here I am, taking time to write a review. Every word I have read, every detail of every panel that I have stared at.... so amazing. The simplicity of the text shadows deep self-reflection and passages that illustrate the trials of a samurai, possibly similar to the trials of everyday man, somehow leading the reader to find themself engrossed in a love affair with an evolving samurai and samurai child, blind to the world, yet so awake.Recommended, in truth. I got an ebook copy via netgalley for free to review.The ebook was quite hard to read due to the font was kinda blurry & messed up I tried my best to carry on though the stories are really nice,simple and short.The illustrations are ok and captured the japanese features,period/era well. I learned a lot from this book and here's some of the quotes that I liked:"The child of the wolf my Lord is still a wolf""Don't brace yourself to against the cold north wind.Think of the moment when the east wind heralds the coming of spring."The lone wolf and the cub they work really great together the father and son tandem is really awesome! they always seem to outsmart their enemy and bring about justice wherever they go.This is a massive epic collection, a must have and read especially if you are into old school rurouni samurai action and adventure. I'm so excited what comes next and have yet to read other volumes. XD
