About book Little Princess (Doubleday Large Print Home Library Edition) (2000)
I normally do not read nonfiction books. However, as I flipped page after page the story I became engrossed. I could not put it down, and I absolutely love how Mr. Grennan did not make the book all about him and what he did or how great he is. He made the book to be focused around the children, and the reader wasn't focused on Grennan the whole time and what he was doing but rather the well being of the children and if he was going to be able to keep them all safe. If the impossible dream could become a reality. I used to ask myself can I -a nobody- make a difference in this troubled, difficul world. Well through times I learned that small things can really make differences such as using less and less plastic bags, treat others equally, respect their preferences. Simply just treat other human as human. In the early part of the book, I believe that's what Conor had in his mind: doing something. And I respect him for that, to actually do something and help the children taken from their families in disguise of sanctuary and better life. It tears me how the children, regardless living in limited resources in difficult time, taking care of each others. However, I cannot help but questioning Conor's decision to set up a new foundation with the Umbrella Foundation is nearby and doing almost similar thing. And so does the Little Princes orphanage. Why not creating partnership with the two organisations, which objective is to return the children back to their families? In writing sense, he captivated me since the first page to the two-thirds of the book. However, the final third was like he's rushing it. I can't help but feeling that Farid, his second-in-command in Next Generation, is right: Connon needs to practice his patience. And I cannot believe that Conor missed the rare opportunity of witnessing the children returning to their beloved families! He told the story by what Farid told him! He worked so hard, traveling to very remoted areas to find the children families, and when finally they are reunited he's not even there?! It's like you're organising this huge party, working on all the details to ensure it's the best party of the year, only to have someone told you how great the party was because you're not there.Conor Grennan is making a huge difference in Nepal, changing the Nepal young generation. Yet I don't think this book really represents fully what he does for the children.****Conor Grennan melakukan hal besar untuk generasi muda Nepal.
