Little Owl explores the night, going to visit his friends and observing who's eating what, who is out and about, and who is unwakeable (the bear). He ends his big night by asking his mom to tell him the story of how the night ends, so she tells him about the transition from night to morning so soothingly that he falls fast asleep. I love this book for its take on the night - a time that is lively and full of excitement for some animals. I think it could be used in a PreK-2 classroom to teach about diversity, multiple perspectives, and animal habitats. I loved everything about this book. The story was simple. The art was simple. Nothing was overdone, and it was very enjoyable. It told of nighttime in the forest, and how different animals act at night. I kinda wonder if the Bear will notice, after waking up, that the badger was stealing his fishies/food as he slept. Nothing was said about this in the story, but it was shown on 2 separate page-spreads.
