About book Little Blue Truck Leads The Way Board Book (2011)
sequels are always a gamble, books, movies, songs, etc. one should question when there is an addition to something that is already written well the first time. Little Blue Truck is one of my son's favorite books. The sentence structure lends itself to have a fun rhythm and tone. The second book also lends itself to the same idea. Again, it has a great message and the pictures are a great support to the words. Dare I ask, "will there be a third?" Summary: New cities can be extremely intimidating. Little Blue Truck is no exception to feeling this way in the new city. Everywhere he goes it is blocked and jammed with different cars. Little Blue Truck quickly learns the different kind of vehicles he would be running into while living in the city. Audience: The book is targeted for elementary boys who love trucks and cars.Appeal: This book is targeted for boys who love trucks and cars because on each page the reader learns about a new truck or car. The book shows the different kind of jobs each of the vehicles perform and why they are performing their tasks.Implementation: I could use this book in teaching children the many different types of vehicles. I would incorporate this into a lesson plan where the children would be learning about the safely measures of the trucks and why it is that each truck or car is performing their task the way that they are in society. The book would also be fun to use with instruments. When each car does their own thing; like the police car has his “wooee” siren, the children could play their instruments that go along with their car. Source:Schertle, A., & McElmurry, J. (2009).
