About book Lipstick Apology (2009)

I was going through a Peddlers mall type of store, when I saw the books and just had to go through them. When looking at the young adult section, this book jumped out at me. The artwork on the front, and the title compelled me to read it. Something told me I would enjoy this book, and that something was right. The main character, Emily, has to move to New York with her aunt, after the news of her parents dying in a plane crash. What's left from the wreckage is a silver platter with the words, "Please forgive me Emily" written in lipstick. Emily has to start over and live with everyone interrogating her about the written apology from her mother. Emily also has to choose between her Chemistry partner who will always be there for her, or the hot popular guy who takes advantage of Emily. I thought this book was not only well written, but also had a mysterious feel to the dramatic story-line. I loved the main character because she has to deal with a lot of peer pressure in this new high school, and she deals with it very well. She doesn't drink when everyone else is, and she values herself over being popular. She is a sweet girl, who gives people chances. I think Emily is a GREAT role-model for teen girls because even though she makes mistakes, she stands up for herself and doesn't believe what everyone else thinks just to be apart of the popular crowd. She stands her ground, and stays true to herself which I think is a concept all teen girls struggle with. I read this book really fast, and enjoyed every word. I recommend this for all teen girls who love romance and drama. Extras: I LOVED Trent. (Her aunts best friend) He is hilarious and made me laugh a lot while reading. He is what made the book light-hearted during some parts. This is also a book about coping with loss, which is good for those who have experienced something like Emily has. You will be able to relate to this story. I loved this book. A quick read. I chose it solely based on the mystery/intrigue surrounding her mothers cryptic message. When i started to read the book that's all I had on my mind. After the 3rd chapter I was thoroughly engrossed in all of the characters. Wasn't too sad or depressing. I found myself laughing out loud at 2am. Shocked by the mothers secret. WOW. The seniors book club I coordinate is partaking in March Mystery month. This will be my share.

Do You like book Lipstick Apology (2009)?

The only reason this book didn't get a three was because of Anthony. Emily just pissed me off.
