About book Like A Sparrow Through The Heart (2008)
This was truly an enchanting, endearing novel to read! It's almost heartbreaking that it had to end; I became so caught up in Flit's and Talon's struggles that it almost felt as if I was there with them. Mrs. Bird's writing style is clearly very charming and humorous, and this novel was so well written that the pacing, character development and plot development(a few of my key factors in what makes a good story) occurred in a flowing and seamless way. Normally, stories where one main character switches romantic interest from one character to another turns me off; as this often makes the relationship between the character and their new romantic interest feel unauthentic or unrealistic. In this case however, it was done incredibly well, and you can actually see Talon and Flit making positive characteristic growth as their attraction to each other begins to bloom. And it all felt natural! The only thing I could say as a negative, might be that I wasn't a big a fan of the explicit sexual details during Flit's and Talon's first time. However that's just my own personal opinion. All in all I really loved this book for so many reasons even beyond what I've said. It's just that I just finished reading the novel, and still need time to digest the story and my feelings about it ending! Okay I seriously cannot believe that this is a free read. Not that I'm complaining, but this book is SO good. I fucking loved it. It's original, well crafted, well edited, amazing in terms of plot and pace. And I'll say it again, IT'S ORIGINAL. The two MC's had their own personal issues to work through, and Ms Bird did a beautiful job crafting two character arcs, intertwining them, while lacing the entire story with real emotion. I loved Talon and Flit. Especially Flit. Talon had more of a journey to go through. Let's face it, he's a right ass in the beginning of the story. What I really appreciate is the fact that he didn't have an entire personality change when he realized his love for Flit. It happens all too often in romancelandia, and makes a whole lot of otherwise good books, seem ridiculous. So, thank you for staying true Aggy Bird. My only wish for this book, is more sex scenes. Like, please? There's only one, fully realized, in the book. But holy hell! I WANT MORE.This girl knows how to write. So much better than many a published author. This is a freebie I would gladly pay to see on my bookshelf, in the flesh.
