This series was excellent. In this last installment, we finally get into Lucas' mind. ***SPOILER ALERT**** It was very creative how the author used possession and went back and forth between Virgina Dare and Valerie's personalities/spirits, which both resided within Val's body, to give us information on Lucas...Virginia using Val's empath abilities to delve into his mind to suffer his past and torture him, while Val tried to save him and spare his misery....ingenious and exciting. I loved Lucas' submission to Val's deep "retreat life" and finding out how much he truly does love her as a person. However, I was very unsatisfied with the ending of this book. It was supposed to be the ending of a trilogy, yet it almost seemed to end mid-thought, as if there needed to be more left to say. Yes, it hinted at them living out their life together, but it seemed to end abruptly. This left me highly unsatisfied and without resolve and lingering... I would have liked a colorful picture painted of their future together. This could have even been accomplished in a few more pages, I think. Overall, I was highly satisfied with this series. Perhaps it was my overall love of the series and characters that made me long for a more exciting and descriptive ending. Best book ever from this series. After the disappointment that the second book was(though we had to know Val's choice)the third one is the best book ever, though the first one will always be charished in my heart.Like Twilight saga series kind of way. Anyway I expected a very dramatic and very bad ending concerning the hot vampire but thangfully everything had the fairy tale ending. Not sure if I was happy or not about that.Anyway a gem in my kindle...
