About book Lichgates (2000)

Loved this book! I love books about people from the real world that end up in a fantasyworld. I love to read about how they discover and explore this new world and its inhabitants. Although this book was quite long it didn't bore me, it had everything a good book needs; romance, friendship, betrayal, murder, lessons to learn and people to meet.I also loved the end. Even though this story isn't finished yet. I can now imagine what will happen to Kara and Braeden while they take their brake, untill I read the next book in this series, which I definitely plan on doing. Very interesting story, a lot of new creatures and adventures. I can't say I've read a concept the same as this and I found that refreshing. One aspect I didn't cate for was how many new terms were thrown at the reader in the beginning and not until reading them several times did thy begin to make much sense.Characters are kind of cliche but only on the most basic level of them. If someone can find a person that doesn't follow some kind of cliche, I'd be interested to see that person. Kara-while she can certainly irritate me at times-has her own little quirks like being superstitious(stepping over cracks).I did find Kara's willingness to accept this new work a little unbelievable. She just goes with the flow. If it were me, I might be freaking out a little bit. I did find myself explaining away a lot of things, such as Kara being so easily accustomed to a strange world and saying that she was destined to be the Vagabond and would have to feel at home in Ourea. And she seems I have an amazing memory. Maybe it's because I have such a poor memory that I can't accept she remembers everything she's read, but perhaps this is only because my own memory is so terrible. The descriptions of the world were so beautifully painted and I found myself eager for each new description.I feel Braeden fell for Kara very quickly, but then I wondered if he was just acting in the beginning to gain her trust.I was a little confused by the Vagabond himself. What kind of creature is he? There are so many races is, so the vagabond his own race?Overall, I really enjoyed this story. It dragged at times and repeated phrases ("tasted the lie" and constantly burning off adrenaline), but I think I'll be getting the next one soon.
