About book Let Love Heal (2013)

I've had this book for a while and have been sitting on it because I knew that Melissa Collins was going to do something special with it. Melanie's character had intrigued me from the moment I met her in Let Love In and I was happy to get her story. This book took me on an emotional roller coaster ride. I had an easy time connecting with Melanie's character. She was so damn likeable. I enjoyed that she wasn't perfect, that she was struggling with things that so many women do. While she didn't wear her insecurities on her sleeve, they would rear their ugly head at the worst of times, and this endeared her to me even more. Then there is Bryan, sweet, nerdy, secretly sexy Bryan. He is everything a girl could want-honest, kind, patient and willing to do the work. My heart broke for both of them as they struggled. First when Mel makes her confession after they admit they love each other. Then again when they're forced to play nice for Emmie's sake. Both Melanie and Bryan have their issues to work out. When Melanie receives the book from her mom, there were tears pouring down my face (in public). It was such a touching moment and made a huge impact on the rest of the story. I really enjoyed watching Melanie's character develop and grow. She was a strong woman before but by the end she was really facing her fears head on. Though her confidence and love for herself grew she didn't know how to act and behave around Bryan- he still made her nervous and I was glad for that. It showed how much she was affected by the rift in their relationship. In the end, things finally, and I mean finally worked out for our couple. It was a long and very winding road that finally brought them back together. I loved that I got glimpses into the lives of the characters that I fell in love with in the earlier books of this series. There are flashes of Maddy and Reid as well as Melanie's mom, Lucy. This book contained all the things I've come to love and expect from Melissa Collins. There was a good story line with good pacing, sweet love, loads of angst and a happy ending. I'm going to be better and not wait eight months until I read the next in the series, the story of Melanie's mom, Lucy and Evan! Awe sweet Melanie grew up without a dad but a wonderful mom who loved her so much. She never felt good about herself and once she gets to college she really lets her self confidence get to her. I love when she meets Bryan. But it is so hard to see how she doesn't love herself enough to let him into her world and love her. Bittersweet heartbreaking moments brought tears to my eyes but so lovely. I really enjoyed this whole series of books by Melissa Collins she deals with a lot of tough issues so well.

Not as good as the others in the series. Just felt slow, like not a lot was happening.
