About book Lessons From Madame Chic: The Top 20 Things I Learned While Living In Paris (2000)

Would be a good book for a teenager, perhaps. The author was trying hard to come up with content but struggled in places to have substantial ideas. And, honestly, the whole notion that she wrote a book about how and why French people behave without, you know, actually discussing this topic in depth with the women she was writing about seems very weird. How does she KNOW Madame Chic does not read trashy magazines? Did she rummage through her bedside table? Most of her knowledge is just guesses based on the superficial behaviors she observed when very young and likely distracted by the many things going on at the time. That said, it's got some basic advice that some young people may not have figured out for themselves quite yet. Not much for practical advice-- she includes two recipes and one of them doesn't even have measurements-- but for inspiring other young Francophiles, it would work. Nice and easy read about what French style is about with clear to understand explanation how to gain this. Liked the split of chapters and fact that all 20 of them were separate but nicely fit in with overall idea. Style of writing was ok, sometimes it felt like from daily blog which I think is fine as this book rose up from it. What wasn't that ok was sometimes propaganda of some products but bearing in mind that this is opinion of one woman and her experience is very acceptable for me. All together nicely put together different ideas on how to improve your life in new and fresh dress :-)
