As much as I liked the first book in this series (The hunt for Atlantis), this book was just not what I expected. I liked the combination archaeology / adventure. And in this book was nearly nothing about that combination - only adventure - and there are really better adventure writers than Mr. McDermott...Plot as thin as melted ice - and even for adventure books too much coincidences and illogical-ities :( I really enjoyed the first book in this series so it was a bit disappointing to find this wasn't all that flash. The first half was dismal, action sequences that that went on far too long and with a level of unbelievability that was ridiculous. Once the Tomb of Hercules became the focus it improved dramatically, but still only lifted the overall standard to ok. I will give this series one more chance, can only hope Mr McDermott has learnt a few lessons after this.
action packed and fabulous! I need to pick up the rest of the series!

As with Hunt for Atlantis, somewhat predictable but entertaining.
