Whenever someone asks me to pick a favorite in any category, I usually have trouble narrowing it down to just one...with books, I usually settle on this one and have recommended it to many friends who all seem to thoroughly enjoy it as well.I adore Maeve, our main character. I love the travel aspect of the book and the cast of intriguing supporting characters. The story is just so much fun! However, it also contained twists I did not expect. There were definitely tear-jerking moments. I had the best feeling when I reached the last page--total satisfaction! Further satisfying is that I can read it over and over again... So, at first I hated this book. Didn't like the main character, thought she was flighty, disorganized, and exhausting. However, as the book went on she grew on me, and I related to many of her thoughts. Of course I could not relate to her illness and what that will do to a person inside and out, but the restlessness, the not knowing where you should be. The author conveys this well, as Maeve struggles to find where she belongs in the world.
Do You like book Leaving Unknown (2009)?
I'm hoping this one will be like Barbara Kingsolver's The Bean Trees.
