Sweet and steady romance. Slow build up, lots of heat and tension as Ash and Eli meet and then progress with friendship to a relationship through the ups and downs of circumstances - Ash is an ex marine and returned Stateside to finish college as a mature student, Eli is his college professor.....they meet in a bar the evening before classes.....then.....surprise!!! The bets first start off as a way of trying to stave off their friendship getting serious because of the student/teacher ethic....even though they are of a similar age. There are a couple of background stories running through the book, which gives it a little drama. There was no epilogue, it would've been nice to see how they were getting on maybe 12months down the line, but it did end on a happy note, so overall an enjoyable read. WOW... this was more than just FUN! I never expected much based on that cover etc, but then; I just got blown away with so much sweetness and sexiness!You'd think this is just one of those half hearted sex filled books, but you couldn't be any more wrong! I'm glad there is a nice amount of intimacy, yes, but it's a lot more than that :)I simply can not put together in a few sentences how much I love Ash & Elijah. They just got to me like almost no other couple has; gods were they fun! :) All that teasing, that tension oh and the anticipation - damned that was sexy and hot to no end. Not to mention when they actually got together... YUMMY YUM YUM!One sexy blonde Marine and a long-ish haired sexy teacher, I mean come on! That's already sexy as hell =D ;) No seriously though, they are awesome characters!!! simply Awesome! Both are almost equally witty, sweet and caring, straightforward, outgoing and yet reserved - oh and damned sexy. Highlights for me were the way Eli called Ash "Georgia". Every damned time he used "Georgia" instead of his name my heart simply skipped a beat. I found that was the sweetest and sexiest thing, ever.(( ..just like in "love lessons" when Kelly was called "Red" instead. AW!))I really wish this book would get as much recognition as it deserves!! :)I can honestly say that Ash & Elijah made it close to top on my favorite couples list, which is very skinny because I am such a spoiled reader ;)"All bets are off" was a lot of fun for many reasons! The writing style totally did it for me! No boring parts, no dragging, no drawn out scenes and no seriously too badly cut scenes either. Sometimes I could have wished some scenes would have been longer, yes, but that's the same with almost every book especially those I really enjoy :)
