Opposites attract in this Regency-era childhood friends turned lovers plot. The story follows Olivia and Lyle, who havent seen much of each other since appearing as children in a previous Loretta Chase book, but who have managed to keep up a correspondence over the years while hes been off exploring Egyptian tombs and shes been raising hell back home in London leaving mayhem, destruction, and a trail of broken hearts and engagements in her wake. When Olivia purposefully gets the two of them embroiled in an adventure involving a problematic Scottish castle, theyre forced to confront their feelings (of both the lusty and non-lusty variety) for each other and figure out how to reconcile the fundamental differences between them without chipping away at their distinct identities.Easily the best of Chase's recent books. I heartily recommend it. My wife reads every book she can get her hands on. I usually read them after she is finished. I never thought I would enjoy romance novels but she loves them so I started to read them with her so we could discuss them afterwards. Loretta Chase has become one of my favorite historical romance authors. I look forward to every book she writes. Last Night's Scandal is a great book. I was able to read it in one sitting. Loretta Chase never fails to impress me.
I love Loretta Chase and this doesn't disappoint. The story of Olivia and Lisle from Lord Perfect.
