About book Last Dog On The Hill: The Extraordinary Life Of Lou (2010)
Sometimes you find something along side the highway of life that turns your course in a new direction - "road not taken".... This is what happened to Steve Duno one day driving along Highway 101 in Mendocino County in Northern California.A pack of dogs and puppies along side the road catches Steve, and his then girl friend Nancy, they stop, wondering what to do, a trucker stops and they discuss the puppies - Steve and Nancy decided to "rescue" Lou, with this little package (at the time) their lives are changed forever.Eventually Steve and Nancy go their separate ways, Steve and Lou move to the Seattle area and work at a "company" that works with canines with behavorial problems, Lou is the actual teacher in the classroom. You know this book is going to make you laugh and cry. Lou was a phenomenal dog who transformed the life of his owner. Lou at times seemed to have better judgment than his owner, Steve. And Steve took too long to end Lou's pain. If you've ever had to say good bye to a dog you'll relive the pain reading the final chapter. You don't so much read the final chapter as feel it. I've had two "Lou's" in my life and they lead just as extraordinary lives as Steve's Lou. We might not have dogs like Steve's Lou or the training and learning abilities of Steve and Lou but we all wish we had the ability to tell the story of our "Lou's" like Steve has done so here.
