About book Last Blood (2013)

In the final showdown between the forces of dark and light, Mal and Chrysabelle face not only their old master, the vampire Tatiana, but the ancient evil that now controls her: the Castus Sanguis. Chrysabelle gathers her friends and family around her, forming a plan to bring an end to the chaos surrounding them. But the Castus is the most powerful being they've ever come up against. Defeating such evil will require a great sacrifice from someone on the side of light. One of them will change sides. One of them will die. No one will survive unscathed. Can Chrysabelle save those she cares about or will that love get her killed? What price is she willing to pay to draw last blood? The House of Comarre series kind of just grew on me. Reading the first book, I kept thinking, "Wow, this is dark." I love dark, but I'm not always so aware of it. Also, I'm not a huge fan of multiple POV. Whenever it shifts to the bad guys, I'm usually thinking, "No, get back to the heroes!" But by the time I got to Last Blood, the final book in the series, I really loved all these characters and wanted to hear from all of them. (There are also a lot of shades of grey in this world and it's not always clear who the real villain is.) I love that we get to check in with all of our favorite characters at some point in this book.I've had this happen once or twice before when reading the last book in a series, but I felt like everything was happy all the way through this one. Obviously, there were conflicts in the story, but it sort of felt like a series of small bumps in the road, not any major obstacles. Maybe this is because the characters are separated into pairs for most of the book, instead of all working toward the same goal. We have a Chrysabelle and Fi mission, then Chrysabelle and Mal, Fi and Doc, Creek and Doc, and completely unexpectedly Creek and Dominic. Maybe it's just me being wrapped up in the nostalgia, since there are actually some pretty huge revelations. I love that everyone interacts with everyone else. All of the loose ends get wrapped up. We learn some more about Chrysabelle's family and about Dominic and Maris. We even go back to New Orleans to see some of the Fae who are going to be in the spinoff series. I'm obviously happy for these characters that I've grown to love. I just wonder how their dark, dark world got so sunny.

Do You like book Last Blood (2013)?

I liked the ending, albeit a bit predictable, but I am a sucker for an HEA.
