¡Excellente libro! Prueba de que la muerte es necesaria pues nos da algo que esperar. Es motivadora intrinseca de nuestros sueños y logros, solo conquistada por el amor y la valentía de aceptar que es el final de nuestras vidas. Critica singular de como los gobiernos y religiones nos controlan al utilizar la muerte y la vida eterna para encerrarnos en la prisión del miedo y la obediencia. Solo somos libres cuando nos enamoramos de la muerte y nos lanzamos de lleno a vivir. Brilliant. I was amazed at how creative this was, but with a strong sense of logic. That sounds like an oxymoron - how is death taking a vacation logical? But the conclusions and resulting scenarios were, indeed, logical. The punctuation-less conversations took a little to get used to, but it mostly just encouraged me to slow down, which is never a bad thing. I really enjoyed this from start to finish. It's my first Saramago, but I have a feeling there will be much more of him in my future.
