About book Large Family Logistics: The Art And Science Of Managing The Large Family (2010)
Overall a good read. Is it just me or was there far to many blank pages in the book? Book was encouraging, and certainly for any family size. I would have appreciated this when I had my first child. Even though I'm the target market for this book (Christian & homeschooler), I found that it's more geared towards those who struggle with their organizational skills. That being said the 2nd half did have some good ideas: specifically I like the tea party, family feast, and buddy system. We are a family of five and while this book offered many practical tips and ideas, I felt that the author was more prescriptive than descriptive. Instead of giving biblical principles for your family and then allowing for liberty amongst individual families, most of the ideas were stated as "children should..." Also, the chapter on infants I just found humorous. The assertion was made that if a baby cries while sleeping, all you have to do if pick them up,burp them, then lay them back down and they will go to sleep. While this may be the case some time and this may be the case with her children, this serves to show the over-generalizations throughout the book. That said, the book has wonderful ideas rooted in biblical principles and I would likely recommend it with the caveats mentioned above.
