Easy, breezy read. I did find many of Dahlia's thoughts and actions too hard to believe: swimming nude across the lake, which lead to the chigger infestation, come on. And, traveling half way around the world to a remote, near uncharted isle of paradise, unannounced, for a month, to reunite with her estranged son; really? If you can put your brain on vacation and not question the logic or lack there of, okay. Haywood Smith does a fantastic job of depicting the inner emotions and outward behaviors of woman interacting among themselves. I felt as though Dahlia, Violet, Rose, and Iris were MY sisters by the book's end! Her characters are always well defined and rather intense, and they're always struggling with the same relationship issues as we all do every day. I initially downgraded this book to four stars, only due to the fact that for me, the storyline was a bit too "romancy," in that it felt too much like a "fairy tale" ending for me, but as I wrote this review, I realized my enjoyment of the superb characterization and the rest of the storyline and realistic conflict outweighed that feeling overall...and really, I don't mind a bit of "happily ever after" every once in awhile!!
