About book La Mente Como Medicina (2014)

I’m not really sure who this book is for. People who do not believe that stress and mental health impacts their physical health? For those people, the first half of the book makes a compelling case that belief systems and stress management are just as important as other self-care practices. But for the rest of us who need little convincing that there is a mind-body connection, there’s not much insight to be gained. An inventory of what could possibly be stressing you out or leaving you unfulfilled is a good idea but did it really take ten chapters to set up such a basic exercise? More fluff than substance. I thought that this book was really engaging and interesting, although it definitely could be shorter. These books often bash you over the head with way too many anecdotes to prove their assertions. I appreciate that the "diagnose and prescribe" portions of the book are really serious and more in-depth than I anticipated. I look forward to using Rankin's website resources to diagnose and prescribe for myself ;)

Very powerful book that shows how awesome the "placebo effect" really is.
