"La délicatesse" The story is about a woman, Nathalie, whose husband has died in an accident. Her boss is in love with her, but that isn't mutual. Nathalie on the other hand, sees a sort of beauty in a man where nobody would see that beauty in. I choose to read this book for my french classes. That means that I read the book in its original language, which I mostly prefer. The use of the beautiful French language is absolutely AMAZING. Even though Foenkinos used sometimes nice allusions and sweet descriptions, the story kept being the most important aspect of the whole book.It's a beautiful story, it may seem a bit cliché but when you get further in the book, you'll see that the story goes deeper. It's not just an ordinary love story. Her love for a Swedisch man isn't accepted and the loss of her husband still haunts her. Basically, the whole book was fragile. you almost never knew if Nathalie would be angry or sad, happy or delighted with something that happened. The expression of her love towards Markus is a cleaar example for this variability of fellings. I don't know how I came upon this book...but not until it appeared in my apartment did I realize it was originally written in French. I was tempted to throw out this copy and find it in French...but I figured it wouldn't be worth the trouble. BOY was I wrong. I cannot wait to reread this book in its original language. This book was like poetry...like happiness written on paper...like dark chocolate and soft blanket. Any simile that = happiness and perfection, fits this book. I REALLY enjoyed it and was happily surprised by how well it was written (translated?) and how lovely the story was...A woman loses her husband and struggles to survive. Meets a man who struggles to be seen...and they help each other be. I shall be returning to this book again and again, so many beautiful sentences and so many ideas that made me smile to myself as I devoured this book on the train. REad if you love to find sentences that make you happy.
