Paradoksalnie to absolutnie piękne jak prawdziwa, a równocześnie mądra jest ta książka. Bo nie o kradzieży tu mowa, a każdy kto tworzy (i Tworzy) znajdzie w niej coś dla siebie znanego, i coś nowego. Autor ujął mnie poczuciem humoru i genialnym doborem cytatów - znajdziemy tu Johna Lennona, Davida Bowie'go, Jack'a White'a i wielu innych, którzy nie tylko sami poszukują inspiracji, ale taż nią są. Pozycja zarówno dla tych, którzy tworzą, jak i dla tych, którzy chcieliby się dowiedzieć jak działają artyści. This unassuming little book looks like just the sort of thing people buy to put on the back of their toilet as light reading material for guests. Boy was I surprised! A quick flip through will leave you with an impression of a trite little book complete with whimsical little sketches and handwritten blurbs. But within the actual text is succinct, sage, and easily digestible advice for the 21st century creative, including thoughts on the Internet and social networking. It addresses all the typical things artists wring their hands over or are flat out too afraid to talk about at all. The advice in the book has the overarching quality of feeling like it comes from an educated and emotionally balanced outlook on creativity and work. Many things in this book struck a chord with me. Things like:Use your hands (i.e. get away from the computer)Side projects and hobbies are importantDon't want until you know who you are to get startedDon't wait for validationThe author isn't a genius who single-handedly had all of these epiphanies and put them in small, square book form. The sheer number of quotes he includes show that he's done his research, and discovered many of these ideas from the words of those who came before him. He simply consolidated them and put his own stank on it. I, for one, thank him for it.I highly recommend this book to any creative who feels like their approach to their work has room for improvement.

This is a wonderful little book perfect for helping one to be in creative motion. Very conversational style and lovely mix of image and text. The chalkboard quotes were cool and I really liked the 'deleted scenes' at the back as they served to free a creative mind as to what the author, Austin Kleon, may have shared. Great little gift book for an artistic friend or someone who wants to explore their creativity after a hiatus.
