C. C. Gibbs is actually Susan Johnson, and I have always enjoyed her novels. This book is the first in a trilogy, and it's trying to capture the popularity of 50 Shades of Frey. While I have not read that series, so I can't compare, I can say that this novel is the typical Johnson romance, but it seems to me the young heroine is a little too young or maybe too mature for her age. As always the novel contains lush prose, a strong male and female characters, and a plot that will keep you interested. Even though it is not her best, it is still enjoyable. Loved this book! So well written, you can tell C.C. (aka Susan Johnson) has been writing for a long time. She goes into wonderful detail, which so many writers just tend to skim over these days, and paints lovely pictures of what we are seeing unfold. I also enjoy the third person POV so that we can actually see what both the h/H are thinking. I do usually prefer first person but in the case of this book the third person does make total sense. The sex is off the charts hot, probably the steamiest scenes I've ever read, and with more than a little kink thrown in just to add to the steam factor. It did take some time before the h/H finally got together but it was fun to read about the build up to the big moment as well. Kate is a great heroine, smart, funny, sassy and beautiful, but Dominic is a little too controlling for my liking. Plus, it's a little hard to believe how much he's accomplished at only 32 years old and just how much money he has at his disposal. A billionaire is one thing but this guy seems to have more assets than some European nations. And this is the way to write a trilogy - give your readers an actual decent story and don't just stretch out a plot just so you can fill up three volumes.
