One book that I couldn't read. To me, this was nothing more than the mad rambling of a madwoman who lost everything (or never had it in the first place). I kept hoping it would get better, but when i hit a bit past the half-way marker and NOTHING had happened (save some gardening and foul language that served no purpose) I set it aside. The title is confusing, which leads to disappointment. The cover is misleading, which leads to disappointment. And the writing is okay, but still WAY too much foul language serving no purpose (usually this isn't a big deal for me, but it isn't used in anger or rage, it's used as though it's just mediocre, which I believe this book is).Sorry to any fans of this author. Maybe I just didn't give her enough time to pull me in and maybe this is just her style, which doesn't suit me. Either way, this book gets a 1 star rating from me. A very well written book that starts off a little bumpy but as with most books, once you get into the story you really start to see what makes the book classify as a Horror title.A very steady, dark decent into the world of a girl named Stevie who lives a lonely life of suicide, near-death trips to hell, murder, and a bunch of other depraved actions that kept me wanting to read on. I randomly picked this book up based off the cover and description inside, as I was looking for a good horror book to read; Slights did not disappoint. I recommend this to anyone looking for a fresh and jolting story experience.
