Killer Deal has Molly writing a piece ostensibly about the reorganization of leadership at a NYC advertising house after the death of its founder after the recent announcement of a merger. In short order, Molly's obnoxious boss is demanding the impossible and breathing down her neck for results, she's being stonewalled by six former models known as "the Harem" who serve as creative directors/advisors at the agency, and her interest in determining whether the victim's former wife is or isn't the killer quickly puts Molly at odds with the incompetent Detective Donovan, one of her boyfriend's colleagues. Oh, and jerk-extraordinaire former boyfriend Peter Mulcahey is intent on scooping her at any cost. Perhaps I should not have read three of these in such rapid succession, because at this point describing what someone is wearing in such detail--while appropriate for those who populate the world of New York's fashion scene--fails to serve as a stand-in for characterization. This is a very fun series, but I would suggest that other readers maybe space them out so that you arrive at each new case fresh. While I will definitely read the next entry in this series, I'll give it some time before jumping back into Molly's world, lest it begin to feel a bit stale.
