About book Ketchup Is A Vegetable: And Other Lies Moms Tell Themselves (2014)
I enjoyed this book. O'Bryant is a great writer. I especially liked the last essay - it was poignant and real. Nothing here is overwrought or overstated for effect - the stories are just true and funny. There is some Christianity in the book, but it's not preachy. Her next book is supposed to be more focused on God, and I'm not sure if I'll be in the right frame of mind to read that one, but I'd definitely consider it. I'm not sure why I or how I got this book. While funny, it is definitely for a very specfic audience - mothers. I have no children, so while I was familiar with the issues about which she comedically gripes, they didn't resonate with me.She is a good writer and has a very sarcastic wit - which I like - but the subject matter was just too specific.I whole-heartedly recommend it to moms, either new moms dealing with what she writes about, or moms with older kids who can look back on those years and laugh.
