About book Karna's Wife: The Outcast's Queen (2013)
One of my favourite books ever. One cant help but fall in love with the characters. Karna is certainly my favourite character from Mahabharata, and somehow I just did not want to reach the end of the book because it meant Karna had to die. The love story between Karna and Uruvi is heartwarming. Its one story that haunts you way after you have put down the Book. A must read for all the Admirers of Karna. - the righteous, noble and courageous. Yet another book in the emerging popular genre of 'mythology : exploration of known characters' . Moral dilemmas and conflicts and nuanced build up of who the heroes are and who the villains, well tackled in this story of a less well known character from Mahabharta of Karna's wife. Though there is a lot of repetition for readers who know Mahabharta, still this a well written narrative which hinges not so much on telling us the story episodes ( which we know) but on presenting the thought process, introspection and view point of Karna's and Karna's wife where they are so obviously seemingly aligned to the wrong side (but we root for them and tare forced to admire them). This book is not ''reinterpreted' mythology (is not like Maluha trilogy), but more like the Palace of Illusions (which explored Mahabharta from Draupadi's view point). Karna's wife defence and character is well presented. Above average rating.
