It’s not the kind of book I would say “you have to read.” But it’s nice.It’s what I expect from Harlequin. Nothing really special or unusual, but ok. I was pleased there were no contrived conflicts or stupidity.A captain falls in love with a woman while he waits for his ship to be repaired. She loves him but feels they cannot be together because she would hurt his reputation. Her parents did not marry. She and her grandmother don’t have enough money for food. The captain helps them out. The cover was appealing, the plot really got me thinking, also I felt that the villain of the story was such a coward. I know villains are there to surely hate them which ever gender, but he kind of put me off which was why the book earned four stars instead of five. I'm looking forward to the next two books in the series. Another thing that I yearned to put across was that it entertained my afternoon as well as evenings. After finishing the book, I wonder what the future holds for protagonists.
Very typical except for one thing... no premarital sex and thankfully not much sexual description!
