About book Justice League, Vol. 2: The Villain's Journey (2013)
I would have to respond to this one in much the same way I did to the first--Jim Lee's work is beautiful, and this is a great super-hero story. But the heroes in this book just aren't quite my Justice League. i'm trying to read enough of this new series to see if I can get past this. Having re-read infinite Crisis and some other books from my personal favorite DC era, I really want to get into these. It's good enough to keep going for now, but still doesn't sit quite right. I felt this was a bit of mindless fun. Not great, but still entertaining. New rivalries (green lantern and wonderwoman, batman and aquaman) set to test the JL, if the new romantic relationships don't break it first. Green Arrow's attempts to join the team were a highlight, especially since the villan really let this book down. Tevors playing the heart broken victim in distress was a nice change from DC's usual women in danger scenarios. Sadly, I felt the stakes weren't high enough for a JL book and changes to the team dynamic (relationships forming between members, new rivalries flaring up) feel forced, it was as if Johns is roadtesting things to gauge reaction and not having any future game plan.
Do You like book Justice League, Vol. 2: The Villain's Journey (2013)?
Not great. Not terrible. I wanted it to be better. Green Arrow was the best part.
