My memories of Johnny Carson stem more from the Oscars than his late-night talk show but I'll admit to a bit of fascination about his longevity in the business and his lingering influence on the talk show genre. This frank and enjoyable book by the man who was Carson's lawyer, wing man, and friend sheds new light on the entertainer whose irascible mother would never grant the approval Carson sought, who couldn't be alone but couldn't be faithful either and who was capable of great kindness and great cruelty. Bushkin admits his own complicity in destroying his own marriage by emulating Carson a little too well until his boss's behaviour became too erratic for even Bushkin to tolerate. Far from being just a tell-all, Bushkin strives for balance in revealing a very complicated man. Henry Bushkin was Johnny's lawyer, confidant, financial advisor and friend. He had very little if anything to do with the 'Tonight' show, so it is seldom mentioned. It focuses on Bushkin's relationship and the things he did with Johnny. I thought it was fascinating. His fans didn't know the real Johnny Carson and probably wouldn't have liked him if they had. Yet, this wasn't a bash Carson book at all.
Do You like book Johnny Carson (2013)?
An interesting read that certainly supports the notion that money does not buy happiness.

This was a fairly boring story of a famous celebrity.
