About book Jed (2013)

Can't believe I actually read this. I should have known just by the cover to put it down and back away slowly- but I needed a 400pg mystery book so...I was promised a Venetian secret society mystery but instead I got a 400 page childish whiny foolish obnoxious self-pity party. Yep, that pretty much sums this book up- with extra emphasis on the whiny. And it's a shame too because Fiona Paul is obviously good at writing. Well, except some descriptions were a little too much. Like when Cass feels like the universe is guiding her to Falco ect ect. Come on now, let's don't be silly. And then when Cass says women can take care of themselves! Bahahaha! I almost split a rib laughing when I read that one! True, some women can take care of themselves, but let's face it, Cass isn't one of them. She spent the whole book on a foolish frisk around a dark city with a suspicious stranger she'd known less than a week. Great.Literary Elements: mystery fiction I ended up really enjoying this book, much more than I thought I had! I would have preferred a clear indication of the time period or something at the start, but it was reasonable enough to pick up throughout the course of the novel. The mystery behind the plot was very intriguing and the characters complex enough for my tastes. I'm very keen to keep reading and untangle the threads that have been left hanging at the end of this book!
