About book Jane Slayre: The Literary Classic With A Blood-Sucking Twist (2010)

So basically we're following the same story of Jane Eyre, but as the caption says, "with a blood-sucking twist." Jane Slayre which is her name, raised by her Reed relatives are actually vampires. One night encounter with her ghostly uncle who pursues her to be the vampire slayer she is. She is sent out to Lowood school for girls where learns Mr. Brocklehurst and the other girls aren't what they seem. Then Jane moves on to Thornfield as a governess and meets (you guessed it) Mr. Rochester and falls for him. Little does she know, Mr. Rochester has a secret. I'm going to leave here without spoiling, yes even if you read Jane Eyre. It was great paranormal twist into a classical masterpiece, though I think some things could be added. If you decide to pick this book to read, get ready for vampires, zombies, and werewolves. Yes, they're here. Hope you enjoy. If you like this new mash-up genre, this book is probably the best adaptation. It does stay very close to the original and is almost believable within its own rules. However, the more modern writing of Erwin leaves much to be desired in the word choice department. She often uses inappropriate terms of the era, such as "full wolf mode" instead of "full wolf state", that can jar the reader right out of the fantasy. I know, the original isn't an easy read, but Erwin could find a thesaurus once in a while, especially when trying to describe the "green goo" of zombie blood. Sure, Jane doesn't know what she's looking at either, but for such a tough character to be at a loss for era appropriate descriptive language seems implausible. In sum, not bad for a long car ride, but don't expect it to be the next great novel.
