About book Is God Anti-Gay?: And Other Questions About Homosexuality, The Bible And Same-Sex Attraction (2013)

Excellent read that gives a clear theological understanding of the basis of marriage and sex and how that is in opposition to homosexuality. Creating the distinction of "gay" as identity of personhood versus same-sex attraction was very, very helpful for me. The book has a ton of practical helps for conversations with those who struggle with same-sex attraction. Grace filled pages here. Highly recommend. I strongly recommend this book to any Christian to read, whether they know someone personally who has same sex attractions or not. This book is very clear and easy to understand and read. I appreciate how it points out that same sex attraction is not who a person is as we are not defined by our sexuality and therefore remains from using the term gay. I also appreciate how the book is clear on how one should respond when someone with SSA opens up. The book clearly walks through what the Bible has to say on homosexuality through both the Old Testament and the New Testament, and how the Gospel fits in. What really struck me was when people say God made them gay to remember how we are all born into a sinful nature with temptations and desires that are not God's will, and that is not how God made us but rather a result of sin as everyone is born into a state of sin and misery in desperate need of God's grace. This book is definitely worth the time to read.
