About book Inside The Kingdom: Kings, Clerics, Modernists, Terrorists And The Struggle For Saudi Arabia (2009)

There is good reason to be fearful that Wahabism can never find its home in the modern world. On the other hand, there are rays of hope that emanate from royal family indicative of a desire to be a contributing part of the modern world. The author has, I think, done us all a service in bringing some of the inner workings of the kingdom into our parlor. He raised the issue that his first book was banned in the kingdom, and was hopeful that this one would NOT be so banned. I do no recall whether the author closed that loop within this work - will have to look. There are features of the work that the Saudi royal family would undoubtedly see as unflattering; that may be the best indicator of the work's value.
