About book In The Pleasure Groove: Love, Death, And Duran Duran (2012)

I just finished reading this memoir of the life of John Taylor of Duran Duran. I was drawn in to read it, as I was a huge fan of his back in the 80's and my curiosity about his life drew me in to read. I couldn't put this book down. I read it before bed every night. I fell asleep reading it until 4am one early morning, and spent the next day sleeping until noon, woke up and picked it right back up for a bit before starting my day. If you're a fan of his, or if you were ever a fan of his, I invite you to read this memoir. I loved how he never talked bad about anyone in the book, and how he was so honest with the dark side of being famous. I loved how he brought me along with him as if I had accompanied him throughout his life and his thoughts and feelings on the band (Duran Duran) and the members. The last few chapters were so touching, I had tears in my eyes and there were so many moments while reading the book that he mentioned a song or a video or another band that I had to grab my iPhone and look it up on YouTube and watch it. So many times through out reading I had to stop and listen to music, that the whole experience was so nostalgic for me, I got to relive things from my past, seeing all the photos and again hearing all the music. The life of a musician who is famous is one that leaves me in awe.... and at the same time, scares me. To know how close he was to being lost by drugs and alcohol forever, scares me. There was never a moment in the book where anything bad would really happen to him, but the idea of "What if..." something could have was always right there.I'm so glad he openly talked about these issues. I'd like to see him do more great things with his life, but really just knowing he is happy makes me smile. Thank you John for this book. Thanks for showing us what you have gone through. And for the record, I think you're an inspiration! Much different than the Steven Tyler autobiography I read a couple months back. I was a Duran Duran fan in the mid-80's but never knew a lot of the stuff John wrote about in this book. It was interesting and personal and made me re-think my love of Simon over John. The chapters were quite short, but it made for easy reading and a great book to read while waiting for my son to get out of school each day. I might have liked a little more depth in some sections but overall really enjoyed it.

Do You like book In The Pleasure Groove: Love, Death, And Duran Duran (2012)?

Pretty good, Andy's book is better. John seems like kind of an affected jerk, but so what.
